MARROW

MARROW is a one-act opera in development featuring a libretto by Socks Whitmore and music by Gillian Perry that asks the question: what if the Tooth Fairy is a bone-magic witch who feeds on the theft of your innocence? In this dark spin on a familiar mythology, meet Marrow—a maternal figure who relieves children of tiny pieces of themselves that lose their usefulness as they age.

A fifteen-minute excerpt from MARROW was developed and performed alongside other “mythical” new works in the 2022 edition of Original Vision, a competitive opera theater incubator facilitated by Overtone Industries. These scenes were brought to life by professional singers in LA’s new music opera and music theatre community accompanied by the critically acclaimed instrumental ensemble Brightwork newmusic.
