PRODUCER

Live Performance

Socks Whitmore came into theatrical producing by heading the workshop productions of their original shows We Are Here (2019) and Back to One: A Coming of Self Musical (2020), and the producing bug stuck. They’ve gone on to serve as a production manager for concerts & cabarets, an event planner for workshops and resource fairs, a marketing & creative assistant for immersive experiences, and more. They have an unusual love for writing emails, playing with spreadsheets, and organizing Google Drives.

Want direction? Socks has experience with:

  • Casting and hiring performers

  • Social media and marketing

  • Copy for project descriptions, digital presence, text-based experiential/design elements, and emails/communications

  • Managing communications with press and the performers

  • Grant applications and budgets

  • Scheduling & preparing for rehearsals, meetings, and discussion groups

  • Touring and negotiating with venues for production

  • Facilitating discussions around creative vision, logistical execution, and delegation

Digital Media

Socks Whitmore’s digital production experience spans everything from music videos to indie games to podcasts. They first served as a co-producer and marketing lead of the horror-comedy fiction podcast, Georgie Romero Is Done For, created by Kat Walker Shea, and recently completed their term as creative director on a 2D musical platformer by Bolero Game Studio. For the games Georgia (2019) and Seeing Gray (2021), Socks functioned as writer, casting director, performance director, artistic director, and producer. (And a lead voice actor to boot!)

Want determination? Socks can make your content happen by:

  • Scheduling recording sessions and booking recording studios

  • Finding and hiring collaborators like voice actors, visual artists, or sound designers

  • Giving voice over direction

  • Making/facilitating decisions about creative vision, art design, and branding

  • Leading production meetings

  • Task delegation and long term planning, including social media calendars

  • Script editing and transcription

  • Video editing and closed captioning

  • Basic audio engineering and sound design (in a pinch! They can only do SO many things at one time)

Community Events

In addition to artistic productions & projects, Socks has extensive experience producing virtual and in-person events designed to inform and uplift their community! In the past, they’ve partnered with their alma mater CalArts to uplift artists on the margins through live events like DIF/ABILITY and to support students through opportunities like the digital resource fair CalArts Best-Kept Secrets. They also have a longstanding relationship with Arts for LA and have had the pleasure of speaking at their annual State of the Arts conference to discuss community programming development.

Their work as a junior partner at the former queer events producing company Prismatic.one and their time as the digital content manager with Transgender Talent & Key Change Ensemble prepared them for a career in community organizing & people management, and inspired them to launch a project of their own: 8TPS, a polystylistic vocal collective of trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive musicians at the intersection of professional, identity-driven, and community-building choral ensembles. Today, Socks serves as the Company Manager & Co-producing Artistic Director (alongside their collaborator Tanner Pfeiffer) in operating, booking, and collaborating with this diverse roster of TGI singers.
